A community is only a community because everyone supports each other. I am sure everyone has a special place in their hearts for a local organization in their town.

We have a BIG place in our hearts for one of those organizations. PWR – Powerful Women Rise above. PWR, Fringe Hair Art’s intiative, was created to empower women who have been victims of domestic violence. Fringe Hair Art provides complimentary hair services to women from shelters in order to raise their level of confidence before milestones like job interviews, etc. The staff at Fringe Hair Art in Kennebunkport, Maine loves to share their talents in hair coloring, cutting, and styling with the strong women who are beginning a new chapter in their lives and their children’s lives.

These women have already sacrificed so much just by having the courage to leave the abusive relationships they were involved in. Domestic abuse has a way of making the victim feel weak and worthless. Fringe aims to prove to victims of domestic violence that they are important and have every reason to be confident and strong.

Fringe knows that beauty truly comes from the inside.

Currently, Fringe Hair Art is looking for pledges for the Fringe Team who is participating in Nicole’s Run which benefits Caring Unlimited. Nicole’s story is a heartbreaking story about how dangerous domestic violence situations can be, even after the victims leave. The purpose of the 5k run/walk is to break the silence that so often is associated with domestic violence.
